The blog for the FUN Network of Finnish University Libraries serves as an accessible platform to discuss topics related to the network. The primary audience for FUN’s communications includes staff from its member organizations and other stakeholders. The blog aims to share information and experiences within the network of university libraries, primarily targeting professionals in the field or those with an interest in it. The goal is to stimulate discussion and enhance unity and visibility within the network.
Posts for the blog do not need to be lengthy. A single page is ideal for covering broad topics, but even shorter texts of a few paragraphs are suitable. Shorter pieces are often easier to promote. Blog posts will be published in at least two languages: Finnish, Swedish, or English. Writers are encouraged to translate their posts if possible, but FUN’s liaison officer or another member can assist with translation if needed. Posts should ideally include images, though suitable images may also be selected from a media library.
For a blog focused on university libraries, it’s beneficial to choose topics that are interesting and valuable to readers and the libraries themselves. Recommended topics include:
- Library Events and Workshops: Share insights on events related to university libraries, such as webinars, workshops, or training sessions. You can also use this opportunity to promote upcoming events.
- Collaboration with Other Organizations: Describe partnerships between the university library and other entities, such as other libraries, faculties, or research institutes.
- Digital Transformation and Innovations: Reflect on how university libraries have adapted to the demands of the digital age and how they utilize new technologies and innovations.
- Library Services: Highlight various services the university library offers to students and researchers, such as lending services, interlibrary loans, remote access options, information services, and group study room reservations.
- Special Collections and Archives: Introduce unique collections and archives within the university library, including rare books, special materials, or historical documents.
- Staff Interviews: Conduct interviews with library staff, sharing their experiences and perspectives.
- Student and Researcher Experiences: Give voice to students and researchers by sharing stories about their experiences and viewpoints on using university libraries.
- Library Industry Trends: Discuss current trends in the library sector and how they affect university libraries.
You may suggest a topic or submit a complete text along with translations to FUN’s liaison officer (up-to-date contact details are available on the FUN website). The FUN working committee will review final submissions, and the liaison officer will assist with final editing and publication.
