The joint library network is an informal network for the collaboration between different university libraries (research universities and universities of applied sciences). Even though there are different kinds of joint libraries, they are usually joint library units for universities in the same locality or vicinity, and the operations are based on mutual agreements.
The joint library operation is based on the vision of the Ministry of Education and Culture regarding the structural development of the universities. The operations at some of the university libraries also include upper secondary educational units. The network started its operation in 2011, in connection with The Tritonia Academic Library’s 10-year anniversary in Vaasa.
The chairperson for the joint library network is Ulla Ohvo from the Lappeenranta Academic Library.
